Indeed, that's been my opinion for many years now.
The issue would appear to be with retrieving the information from Ebay and they (Ebay that is) appear not to be in any hurry to fix it, even affecting certain areas of their own site. I suspect there might be performance issues with making it work properly, however, in my opinion, if they are going to offer to provide information, that should be accurate or they should not (promise to) supply any at all, inaccurate information is always worse than none.
