1. The sniper didn't work, even though my bid was higher. The bid that won was $51 and my bid was $142.50. Not sure why I didn't win.

As shown at the bottom of this page:

there was a bid retraction, for a US $250.00 bid, 1 second before the auction ended.
So the auction price must have been higher than your snipe up until the last second.
It looks to be a pretty clear example of what is known as bid shielding, which is against Ebay rules. I'd recommend reporting it to Ebay and pointing it out to the seller. _________________ Mark |

Gixen tries to counter this, but it doesn't always have enough time left between bid retraction and auction end to submit your bid. |
