A general question on bidding (U.S. currency): Given all the bid increments, is it better to bid in whole amounts or dollars and cents? What's the better strategy?
I was beat out a bid increment circumstance, I think. Should I have bid, let's say, $90.50 instead of just $90?
Thanks |

People often seem to bid on whole dollar boundaries, for that reason I tend to avoid them and add a few cents to what I'm willing to pay when the initial calculation ends up being very close to one of those boundaries no matter what the currency.
That said, it only makes a difference when someone bids exactly the same, and you can then win by just those extra few cents; if they've bid more than you they will still win by at most one bid increment, Ebay never makes anyone pay more than one bid increment more than the next highest accepted bid. _________________ Mark |
