So many people complain about GIXEN problems; but here is a praise. after scanning through ebay items I decided to enter a bid. it was ending in 1 minute and 35 seconds.. far too late to enter my bid as sometimes before it didn't go through, perhaps others were using a snipe service, but i entered anyway and .. won. so you never know. Don't hesitate to enter those last minute bids.. you just might win. |

I'm a little confused were, are you claiming that entering a snipe here on Gixen that late still results in a bid?
Or are you recommending placing a manual bid on eBay when the auction ends that soon?
If I were on the internet and found something I wanted ending that soon, I think I would be using Ebay direct at that stage. _________________ Mark |

YES ! A LAST MINUTE ...THAT CLOSE TO AUCTION END ...IS RISKY, BUT IF YOU ENTERED IT MANUALLY ON EBAY, SOMEONE ELSE MIGHT HAVE A BID ALREADY ENTERED INTO THEIR SYSTEM, SO FOR INSTANCE IF THE LISTED HIGHEST BID WAS $6.98, and i manually enter $8.. sometimes ebay automatically tells you that you have been outbid enter a higher bid, by the time i type in my higher bid and refresh the page, the auction is over, so if i see a last minute item of interest i go directly to gixen and have them place it for me., sometimes i enter less than a full minute and still win ! |

If someone else has already placed a bid higher than yours you can't win against them with a lower bid than they entered no matter when your bid is placed.
Sniping is only ever an advantage in not giving time to others to react to your bid.
For that matter you also can't even win against someone that schedules a snipe that is more than one bid increment more than yours, with a reliable sniping service like Gixen.. no matter what offset you, or they, choose.
Most certainly the action of placing a snipe late is not giving anyone an advantage, it just increases the likelihood that your bid will not be placed at all.
I think we do agree though that it is important to do your research and know precisely what the maximum amount you are prepared to pay is, so that you can schedule your snipe to be that amount. _________________ Mark |
