The most common reason people ask this question is if they have already placed a higher bid on Ebay. Gixen can only bid what you can bid manually, an earlier, higher bid than your snipe amount, causes Ebay to tell Gixen that the bid must be higher than the one it is trying to place, hence the status of 'BID UNDER ASKING PRICE'.
Did you place any manual bids at all?
Later:
Ahh... I see the problem.. there was a bid retraction of US $400.00 5 seconds before the auction ended... that will have caused this. It could be bid shielding.. you might want to report it to the seller... and perhaps even to Ebay themselves, for them to investigate. _________________ Mark

thank you, i fugured it out. i sent seller message about this bidding issue.
but now i'm interested what happens if i place bid on ebay before gixen.
for example current bid is 50$, i place 50 + increment
then i decide to use gixen and place max bid 100$
result will be the same as you described?
or second case : current bid is 50$, i place 100$ on ebay
then i decide to use gixen and place max bid 80$
what happens then? |

First case is fine, Gixen can bid a higher amount than you have already bid.
Second case is as I described, you can't place a later lower bid, then you will get 'BID UNDER ASKING PRICE' as a status... but it isn't something you would ever want to do intentionally because it doesn't give you any advantage, does it? _________________ Mark |

yes, but i remembered that one time i bid at the beginning of auction to ensure that i'm allowed to do it for this item(i had 2 strikes).
then i placed much higher bid in gixen and it didn't work. i don't remember item number.
as i remember gixen did nothing, like i didn't place this item ever.
it was like 2-3 months ago.
but you are saying it works if i place higher bid in gixen. |

Yes, fine if your snipe is higher than an already placed bid, Ebay allows that.
Of course, there can be other reasons why things don't happen they way you expect... but without an auction number, or even the status Gixen gave the snipe, to investigate we are probably never going to know what happened.
If you experience any other things you don't expect please provide auction numbers and someone should be able to figure out exactly what did happen. _________________ Mark |

331772025719: you have unpaid item strikes, at least two in the past month. Seller restricted you on this criteria. |

So, if i'm interested in item, but i had strikes(frankly not my fault)
i can place small amount bid to check if i'm allowed or not to bid .
if there is restriction , i can use another ebay id
if bid placed, i can add larger bid in gixen and it will work.
am i right? |

That is correct michael_k.
I try to resolve any unpaid item cases, as they can restrict bidding on an Ebay account for up to a year. _________________ Mark |
