No, this rule has always been in place on Ebay.
The bid to be submitted must be at least one bid increment above the current auction price, otherwise it is rejected by Ebay.
The current auction price is not the same as the current highest bid, since Ebay only makes the auction price be one bid increment above the next highest bidders price... So the actual highest bid may be much more than the auction price... That is how it is possible to beat another bid by only one cent... in fact no cents at all if your bid is earlier than the other bid.
It is this behaviour by Ebay that means that it is more successful for snipers like me, that bid on auctions were other snipers are also bidding, to bid earlier than they do... accordingly I have set my default offset larger than the usual 6 second default. _________________ Mark |
