Can someone post the instructions that are given when you click on the "Why did this snipe fail?" link, please? I used them the other day due to the ebay problem, then yesterday I had to undo the proxy as the Gixen proxy was seemingly down. Now I can’t put it back and I keep getting told by ebay that I am suffering from unauthorised access. I don’t believe I am, but can’t but the gixen proxy back cus I can’t find the instructions, HELP

They are given on a need to know basis, since it would be unwise to have everyone able to use it all the time.

If you need the instructions again please email Mario at the support address given on the 'Contact' tab above and he will send them back to you that way.

I have set up the gixen proxy, cleared my cookies, made a bid, even bought an item via the gixen proxy, and yet still when I try to log into the gixen site I get the same messages.

thephdfund,

What messages are you referring to?

If you mean the ones against old snipes, those will have been generated at the time Gixen tried to bid, so you may so the obstruction that caused them may not be present any more.

If you have other messages please can you explain exactly what they are and when you get them.

this is the message I get:

Password is not a match. Could not log you in.

eBay refused your password. Please check the following:

1) If you changed your eBay password, it may take up to 24 hours for you to be able to log in to Gixen. This is because it is common for eBay to inserts captcha images in that time period, preventing Gixen from logging in on your behalf.

2) Try to log in with the same username/password combination directly at the ebay website. If this fails, you have to resolve the problem with ebay directly.

3) If you use multiple languages / locales, check that your keyboard is set to the right one.

4) Some special characters presented a problem for Gixen in the past. If you use an unusual character in your ebay password, please let us know what it is (never email your full password, just the character in question).

5) If you changed your ebay password, the new password applies to Gixen as well. All the snipes scheduled with the old password are invalid and you have to re-enter them. You can no longer see the old sniping entries.

6) Finally, as of May 21st 2014, you may have to associate your account with Gixen IPs. You can do that by using Gixen socks proxy, by following instructions on xxx.gixen.com/whatsmyip.php

thephdfund,

OK... and you still have the Gixen proxy in place in your browser?

If so, when you log into Ebay with that same userid and password, do you notice any odd behaviour from Ebay, like a Captcha image or extra pages you have to acknowledge during the process?

no, no odd behaviour from ebay at all, same as it ever was.

With the proxy if I keep logging in here now, after multiple tries I can usually finally log in. Then when I try again a minute later it fails and starts the cycle all over again.

Ok thephdfund,

If you are certain that none of the aspects detailed in the message that you posted apply to your account then...

I think Mario will need to investigate with the specifics of your account... to kick that off I suggest you email him at the contact address on the 'Contact' tab above... include your Ebay id (Not your password, though Mario may request that by other means at a later stage if he isn't able to pick it up from your account {if you have no snipes scheduled})... and a reference to the specific problem... a link to this thread should be sufficient since you have detailed the exact problem sufficiently.

further to this problem eBay is very strange tonight. I can log in and out on eBay no problem, but when I try to look at a link from a saved search email I get requested to enter a set of numbers in a security. However, even when I enter it correctly it just keeps resetting and asking me to enter it again.

I will contact Mario via email

Not a problem that I have seen reported before...

However, I have noted that those links are to rover.ebay.com, and when the Gixen proxy is in place they don't work... That is because the proxy script recognises them as Ebay traffic but the redirection is not permitted via the Gixen server.
