There is always a starting price for Ebay auctions, there may not be any bids though.

Gixen always attempts to place the bid that you specify.

If there are no other bids the auction price after the auction has finished will be the starting price, after your bid has been accepted... so you would only pay that much.

There is probably some confusion for new users because every item that is added by the user to his Gixen file is shown as "Bid Scheduled." That a BID is scheduled in not quite literally true and is the source of some confusion. Gixen WILL NOT bid on an item unless the Gixen user first sets a bid amount for it -- regardless of what the minimum, reserve, or any other condition may be on the item.

Once the user enters his bid choice in Gixen, THAT AMOUNT is what Gixen (and/or) Mirror will bid, and at the time left in the auction set by the user ("the offset" in seconds). There is NO dickering, blithering, changing, comparing with other bids, or reconsidering of THAT AMOUNT by Gixen. All of those kinds of goings-on are on the EBay side, as Ebay sorts out who is the acceptable highest bidder (if any) and how much they will pay the seller. If you are the highest acceptable bidder after all of EBay's goings-on, then you will be told to pay the seller ONLY ONE BID INCREMENT more than the next lower bidder, up to and including THAT AMOUNT (no more) that you originally set in Gixen. (Always an exception; you will pay the reserve amount (if any) if you were the only bidder higher than the reserve.....) Hope this helps.

Thank you for the clarification Bob.

I agree that if the way that you get your snipes on to the site is via an import from your Watch or Gixen list then you have to Edit the snipes in order to specify an amount for Gixen to bid otherwise the default of 0 will result in no bid being placed.
