While most of the time Gixen works for me, last night it did not and it was most important. When I awoke this am, I discovered I had not even bid due to "HTTP TIMEOUT" ! And, my bid was well over the winning bid, had Gixen worked, I would not have lost the item I had been waiting days on. That usually means the receiving server is at fault, not my computer. You mean to tell me that 6:00am EST is a heavy hour? Wow...

Was this a Mirrored snipe since, according to Mario, the Mirror server was operating faultlessly last night?
This was most likely due to the issue caused by the hosting facility (corenetworks) failing to inform Mario of maintenance they were performing last night as explained by him on this thread:

It's not a heavy hour, when did I say that?
See http://www.gixen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6446 for explanation as to what happened.
Timeouts were happening as the services were being restarted from downtime that was experienced due to ISP failing to notify me of maintenance.
Note that mirror service was designed for situations like this one, and that it worked flawlessly during this time. For important auctions please consider using it. |
