Does anybody have a clue what this is about and why I have received it?
Your account has been suspended for the following reason: Hammering Gixen frontend on Dec 4th, 1.30 Pacific time.
Thanks |

I have a clue, as I was the one who suspended your account. I was wondering what were you really doing at that time?
You can contact me on email if you don't want it discussed in the forum. |

'I was wondering what were you really doing at that time?' If it relates to gixen, then it will be sniping!
Feel free to discuss on your forum, unless you would prefer not to. |

You issued 4,100 http requests in 8 minutes.
That comes to, on average, 8 to 9 requests per second for the duration of 8 minutes. This seriously slowed down one of the front-end servers at the time.
Any idea how this could have happened? |

I have not 'issued' anything, believe me as a small business owner I have better things to do with my time. How do you know it was from me? If you can show it was I will have someone look at my computer, and try find out why it happened.
I would appreciate you double check your facts though as I can really do without the expense of getting somebody in if you are merely guessing.
Regards |

I can provide you with a relevant portion of web server log file if that will help you. There is no doubt that this originated from your IP address, which is the same as the one you are using now.
Email me and I will provide you with a log.
I lifted the suspension on your account - you will have to re-enter any snipes you had scheduled. Email me if you need a list. |

I have spoken with an engineer today from my broadband proivder who has confirmed I do not have a static ip address.
I have also sent you my email address if you wish to contact me directly. |

It doesn't have to be a static IP address to be the same one for quite some time... they only get reallocated when your service is cut off and reconnected... even then you often get reallocated the same one. _________________ Mark |

The router is switched off most nights and this is all they say is needed to change the ip.
Anyway either you're accusing the wrong person, or if it was something that came from my computer it was not deliberate, beyond my control and you are the only people that have had a problem before or since.
Not much more I can say really. |

You have the same IP address for all the posts on this thread, so it has not been changed. I will not publish what it is but note that websites are always sent your unique IP address when you interact with them.
It would be quite incredible for another Gixen user to have had exactly the same IP address as you have... to have had it associated with their account only at the time that the problem occurred... but with yours prior to that (otherwise Mario would not have imposed the restriction on your account) and back again with yours now.
Do you have an unprotected wireless network that someone else could have attached to for a short period?
Anyway Mario has re-enabled your account, so you are free to use Gixen as you did before... However, if the problem occurs again from your IP address then I have no doubt that the restriction will be imposed again so it is in your interest to try to find out how it happened and take steps to prevent a re-occurrence, if you wish to continue to use Gixen. _________________ Mark |

dsfan-2, I didn't have an intention of accusing you of anything, sorry if it came out that way.
When something like this happens, I have to suspend an account to protect Gixen site regardless of whether it's deliberate, virus or something else. Since for most users I don't have any contact information, not even email address, that's the only thing I can do.
Your account is no longer suspended either way, and hopefully it was a one-time only problem. |

To be fair,
As Mario said, it isn't necessarily deliberate... there are virus's that access your web history and attack sites that you have visited... Why do they do that?... I have no idea, it seems pointless to me... Because they can, I guess.
But if and when it happens steps have to be taken to protect the site for all users and only the owner of the computer that is performing the attack can sort it out from their end. _________________ Mark |

bkloungin,
What exactly is the 'suspended' message that you receive?
If it is due to failed login attempts it is automatically lifted after an hour... but before trying again to log in here you need to check your credentials are correct by logging into Ebay direct. _________________ Mark |

Hello Cupid,
When I open Gixen program it says: "could not get user country, using default"
Then it goes to the next error message: "Error 115 Gixen account suspended"
Could you look into this and when possible cancel the suspension?
Thanks and greetings, |

Suspensions due to incorrect credentials are now automatically lifted after an hour.
This thread was started about a very different kind of suspension... if you have been suspended for that reason you would have to sort it out direct with Mario via email at the support address given on the Contact tab above.
Are you talking about using the Gixen Desktop Manager?
If so, I suggest tat you get your account working by logging in here on the web interface first.
If it is the Gixen Desktop Manager is it possible that you saved your credentials for its use previously and have changed the since? If so you will need to delete the gixen.ini file where those now incorrect credentials are stored before you will be able to log in via that program again. _________________ Mark |

Hello Mark,
Logging into the webapp and removing the .ini file has fixed the problem in the Gixen Desktop Manager.
Thanks and greetings, |
