Greetings,
Currently on holiday in Spain and thought that I'd give the API a try as the broadband connection here in the villa is ... lets say, at best, SLOW and I had been watching a number of items before I came away.
Decided not to contribute straight off after registration as I've been caught out a few times in the past with stuff that never really worked ... not to say though that I'm quite happy to pay for any service that does what it claims to do. If Gixen works then I'll be the first in the queue to put my hand in my pocket !!
Alas, having taken the time and trouble to make sure that the online settings all point to ebay.co.uk (home location is U.K.) I've now attempted 5 snipes with another one still pending ... and I'me 1 for 4 so far which by any standards is ... poor. (and before the comment is made, yes, each maximum WAS set to higher than the eventual winning bid!)
Seems to me that the 'system' isn't quite up to scratch yet, and given the poor current strike rate, it certainly isn't worth contributing towards.
When it actually works, then I'm first in line to shell out to support it ! |

Well, I knew immediately that this can't be true. No Gixen user has 75% failure rate.
I found your username based on your IP, and from what I can see, in the last month there were only two of your auctions that you let run to the end. One you won, another you were outbid. In both cases your bid was submitted.
If you know different, please provide me with item ids. |

Hi Od and Mario
I think this impression can be a matter of perception; not Gixen malfunction. We users may forget what we do after the fact. Maybe we change our bid amounts, or cancle and then forget? ...and it's easy to precieve this as a site failure when it's operator error on our part. Unfortunately it's also easy to make statements like this when we are emotional and also partially hidden behind the mask of identity the internet provides.
I've spent a couple hundred $$ using other snipper sites over the last few years before coming here. I'd gladly pay that for this service if that's what it cost...but I don't have to. It's only $6 a year for the redundent server service. Am I gonna hit the donate button? Probably not....but I'm not a salesman nor philanthropist. When something works for me, my continued use of the service says more than what I'm willing to pay for it or comments in a forum/blog.
This service, when I follow suggestions for efective use, seems to be among the best, regardless of price. Lucky for me! |
