 Failed snipe. Luckily on something that I can probably win from the same seller in another day or two, but still disappointing because I was hoping to get my order shipped quickly. What is H-T-T-P timeout? (without the dashes, the forum won't let me post those letters in a string)

Those letters are prohibited on this forum in order to prevent spam being posted here.
The status means that eBay was not responding in a timely manner to the request that Gixen sent when Gixen was trying to place the bid.
Was this snipe mirrored or just on the main server?

I had exactly the same error - and it WAS Mirrored.
it seems at a similar time (or al least on the same date).
It wouldn't have mattered as I didn't bid enough - just interested to know why it happened (and the chances of it happening in the future.

Dave,
What is the status on the mirror tab? I find it highly unlikely that both servers failed with timeout for the same auction. |

I've had problems accessing ebay for over 24 hours. Could be a general ebay issue producing the timeout???

The Gixen servers and all the eBay servers are in the USA... Sometimes there are connectivity issues when you are further away or it can be due to issues at your ISP.
I have not noticed any particular issue with eBay in the past 24 hours... it is always a bit slower on a Sunday though, that is eBay's busiest day of the week.
