That's true, they are stored as plain text in a text file. It's not, however, a place an intruder or virus would look at, so there is some security through obscurity.

Thanks Mario
With this method in hardcoding the username and password, where will the information be saved? I am concerned about the safety of storing usernames and passwords together

Keith just started a blog, and posted how to hardcode your login:

I believe the greasemonkey script can be edited and you can hardcode the username & password. I'll ask Keith Hopkins (the author) if he can respond to your questions and give specifics.

Post subject: Signing in with "Snipe this item" issue
Hi,
Whenever I want to snipe multiple items, I press the "Snipe this item", and it prompts me to login. I enter my id, pass, and bidding amount, and all is well.
However, when I want to snipe another item, the popup box prompts me to sign in again, when I just signed in for the other item. This gets tedious when I want to snipe many items. I experienced this since the beginning, but only recently did I start to bid for many items.
Is there a simple settings configuration I need to change to avoid this?
Thanks
