Other people also use sniping services. Depending on interest, you can see even more.
These were scheduled bids, not reaction to your bid, so there was absolutely nothing you could have done about it.

How many bids can Ebay users put in after my bid, in only six seconds?
With a six seconds delay I see the following:

How is it possible that someone puts in three bids after me, in only a six second window?
Those extra bids cost me app. 5 extra dollars!
Can I prevent these bids by shortening the transaction interval before bidding?
