In this particular case, ebay returned a login screen in the middle of the flow (after already being logged in). I was puzzled with this until recently, when a user informed me that they do this when they want additional information before placing a bid (usually a credit card to "verify" your account). <br /> <br />So, if your ebay account is not verified, or contains an expired credit card, I would check this now.
