Post subject: not eligible
I've just had this happen to me, I was bidding on a chainsaw using Gixen and my bid was rejected. I put a low bid on another chainsaw \"live\" and I had to give credit card details before my bid was accepted

...........
even more details:
They will check your age every time you want to pay or bid for something in that category, I have been checked 3 times in about 2 weeks, despite being logged into same account, using the same card, and having the card listed for accepted payment.
I just didnt think they will go after paypal, and with that after gixen.
Ebay will only accept as proof of age a credit card. Nothing else, no passport, no driving licence.. nothing. I spoke with customer service.
So far on delivery nobody wanted to check me.
also, its not only bladed items, screwdrivers and chisels fall into that category, and probably others that are not so obvious \"bladed\"

I lost 5 lots today with the same message \"You are not eligible to bid on this item.\"
I would really like to know what is happening.

Apparently it's ebay's new policy, they want to verify your age before buying sharp things like tools and screwdrivers.
And you dont know until your bid is rejected and you wonder why!
Dont ask how annoyed I am!

this thread
.
Agreed, it is unusual to win auctions with the same seller as you also lose auctions with this message.
I do however, have a vague recollection of there being a restriction that a seller can impose on the number of items that any buyer can purchase from them.
You could always try asking this seller if they have any such restrictions, or know of any others that could have blocked your bids.
What is certain is that you get this result as a result of a response received from Ebay... so, it's not something that Mario can investigate from within the software that he has access to and can update.

Post subject: You are not eligible to bid on this item
Hi, had bids on two separate items from the same seller. I won one and the other I listed even though I probably would have been the high bidder because ‘ You are not eligible to bid on this item’ .
Can somebody explain what is happening here? This is the second time I’ve lost an important auction due to this.
Thanks
