How can I avoid having the same thing happen?
As per this blog post:
Gixen now notifies users of expired authorizations both with a displayed warning message and also with an email.
However if you are also likely to miss those warnings: In the second section of the Settings page it tells you when your authorisation is due to run out. From that you can set yourself a diary entry to tell you when you need to re-do your authorisation. Then once you have done it you can set yourself another reminder for 18 months later. Your eBay authorization has expired. Gixen tried to submit this bid but couldn't due to expired authorization.
it would be great if the error message said \"your eBay authorization has expired\" rather than the \"too late...\" message. that way we would know after just one occurrence.

How can I avoid having the same thing happen? I bid only from time-to-time. If I don't bid for six months, how would I know my authorization had expired? I don't want to have the same thing happen to me that happened to the OP!

Renew it on the Gixen settings page, this is free of charge and takes only a minute to do.

Post subject: Error: entered too late into Gixen...
I've gotten this red notification AFTER an item closes twice now. (And thus missed out on an item I've been watching for for over 5 years.)
"This snipe may have been entered too late into Gixen and may not be executed."
This one after entering the snipe the day before the item closed and not getting this error notification at the time of placing the snipe but it is present now that the item has ended.
