When you set up the snipe did you notice a note on the auction that the reserve was not met ? This will be the reason, the seller paid extra for a reserve, you are always bidding against that, as well as other buyers. There's a blog post on how bidding works: https://www.gixen.com/blog/how-does-ebay-bidding-work/
Post subject: Large jump in bid price
Hi, I have just one a bid however the jump between my initial sniped bid was very large, from ÂGBP 102 to over ÂGBP 400 without any other bids being registered (automatic or otherwise)!
Should the snipe not stop at whatever the price is of the highest last bidder? And should this not be visible on the eBay bidding list?
First time this has happened.
