Hi guys I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times but ive been searching and I can't find an answer that is making sense to me. For maximum bid I have entered 75 dollars on an item. Right now the bid on said item is 56 dollars. Say in the final seconds of the listing the maximum bid ends up being only 60 dollars, will my bid be 75 dollars or will gixen just enter the next highest bid possible? When I read the directions it said something about ebay automatically reducing the price to one unit above the present bid but that just confused me even more. Thanks!
Your confusion is based on a, very common, lack of understanding of the Ebay bidding system.
When you place a bid on Ebay, unlike a normal auction, that does not mean that is how much they will ask you to pay if you win.
Th maximum that you are ever required to pay is one bid increment more than the next highest bidders maximum bid.
The actual amount of you bid is kept private by Ebay until you are actually outbid... Ebay simply informs other bidders that they have been outbid, until that happens... This is the case no matter when your bid is placed... of course, if you bid early in the auction you provide others the opportunity to keep trying over and over again to outbid what you are prepared to pay... all sniping does is deny others that opportunity.
