The best way to mitigate this is to have a Mirror subscription on your account, since then two servers in different locations attempt to do the same thing. With a Mirror subscription where you can select the offset, there are now some retries that can be made when you select an offset at or above 6 seconds. Below that if the time-out occurs at the point where the bid is to be submitted there is not enough time to retry the bid.
Post subject: Unknown Error
Hi Mario,
The item number is 222164227702.
Thanks.
Colin
P.S - now I am also getting the ebay verification thing and my snipes are cancelled - I guess I will have to try the SOCKS workaround thingy.

Colin, let me see, I need to check this - what is the item number?
"Unknown error" can be many things, it merely means it was something Gixen did not expect. So I need to check the logged return page to see what exactly caused it.

Post subject: Unknown Error
Hi Mario,
I too got the Unknown Error on my bid item 2 days ago - my bid price was higher - lost the bid and when I check Gixen it shows unknown error.
I have a mirror subscription - both main and mirror were set to 4 seconds - should it just have been 6 seconds ? Is that the main reason because of time out due to not enough time to snipe again ? or is there something else like eBay prompting for verification at the time of the snipe that causes unknown error ?
Thanks,
Colin

Can we avoid this by increasing the bidding time before the auction ends? Do we have that capability. Happened to me for the first time in over 5 years yesterday.

It's a timeout. Sorry about that, I hope you can find a similar item again.

Post subject: UNKNOWN ERROR (1) ?
I put in a scheduled bid for an Ebay auction.
Ebay item #142032581373
This scheduled bid did not go through. The scheduled bid was higher than the winning bid.
I received "UNKNOWN ERROR (1)"
Does anybody know what is UNKNOWN ERROR (1) ?
