The issue described in this thread (***http***://****www****.gixen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=22803#22803) just happened to me today. It is not fixed. I bid on Gixen for twice the closing price of the auction and my Gixen bid was never entered. I can log in to Gixen (and, thus, presumably, eBay) no problem. I should have known when Gixen reported the wrong "current price" of the auction earlier today, even though 1) I can log in to Gixen with no problems and 2) Gixen can find the auction with no problems. Gixen has been a great service for which I am grateful but now I'm searching for a new service. This can never happen again.
This is exactly what happened to me. eBay forced me to change my password, likely due to what is written above.
Please let me add a 3rd suggestion: If Gixen is ever hacked again, and users are forced to change their eBay passwords as a result, please display a message upon login along the lines of the following:
"Gixen was recently attacked by hackers. As a result, you may have recently been forced to change your eBay password. Please verify that the eBay username and eBay Password you used to log in to your Gixen session are the same as your changed credentials on eBay."
To summarize:
1) When a gixen user schedules a bid perhaps check to see if the login credentials they have used for their Gixen session is consistent with their current eBay credentials.
2) Please update the FAQ to include the entire picture concerning Gixen's ability to work with both current and prior eBay credentials.
3) In the event of a hacking, please post a warning to Gixen users after the Gixen login.
Gixen is a free service, I know that, but communication could be improved. Items 2 and 3 above would be virtually cost-free to implement.
Thanks for listening.

Thanks for your prompt response. My post above was made before I read the last response.

Continuing this discussion, I knew there was a place on this website that led me to believe that successfully logging into Gixen gave me the assurance that my bids would be correctly placed.
>> What happens if I mistype my password while logging in?
>> You will not be able to log in, as authentication is done using eBay.
In addition to the suggestion above, you might also include the explanation that "Gixen allows you to log in with old credentials until such time as you give it now ones". This statement is entirely relevant to the FAQ discussion quoted above.
FWIW, this is not the case where the user changed an eBay password after scheduling the bid on Gixen. This is a case where I was successfully able to log in to Gixen using old eBay credentials and schedule a bid using those outdated credentials. I was under the assumption that Gixen would prevent me from doing that -- simply via the fact that I had logged in.
So, please at least add how it works to the FAQs (because it's easy and it might help the people who bother to read the FAQs) and please consider the other idea of pre-verifying the user's credentials as noted above.

The problem that Mario had with passing on all login attempts to Ebay was that when you just log in you don't wish to place any bids...

Too many logins (or just too high a proportion) without actually placing any bids and Ebay takes action against the IP that is sending the requests... which in turn causes all snipes by all users from that IP address to fail...
Mario really had little choice but to implement the feature as it is now constituted, and as I described above, if he wanted to continue to provide a sniping service for all the Gixen users.

Unfortunately, I was not aware of this "feature". I assumed that if I was able to log in to gixen, period, that my eBay login credentials were used and, if they were incorrect, I wouldn't be able to access gixen.
While I see the value of the current behavior -- sort of -- I think it's highly dangerous for the gixen user and it cost me dearly in this case.
As a suggestion, if the credentials used to access Gixen are *not* the same as a user's current eBay credentials, you might consider displaying some kind of prominent warning as part of the login process. If Gixen does this already and I missed it, then shame on me.

The thread that you refer to was started in May 08, things have moved on considerably since then.
In order to get that status on a snipe Ebay must have refused the attempt to log in via the Gixen server to place the bid.
Have you changed any of your credentials recently, and if so have you typed in your new credentials from scratch when logging in here to set up more snipes.
NB Gixen allows you to log in with old credentials until such time as you give it now ones, this allows you to access your old snipes so that you can make a note of them before deleting them since none would work in any case.
If you are being refused access to Ebay via the Gixen server for some other reason, have you enabled the Gixen socks proxy in your browser and then seen if you can still log in to Ebay?
