What this service does for you is attempt to place the bid that you specify in the last few seconds of the auction, at the offset that you specify (assuming you have a Mirror subscription). The way that Ebay works is that in order for a bid to be accepted that bid must be at least one bid increment above the current auction price. So, if at the end of the auction the price is already above what you were willing to pay, you will not see a bid registered on Ebay, because that bid will have been rejected. In such circumstances the only way to improve your chances of winning is to increase the amount that you are willing to pay by specifying a higher snipe amount.
You need to place a higher bid on the item. You lost the auctions because somebody else was willing to pay more than than you were (and not because Gixen didn't try to bid, or bid too late).
Apart from a few boundary cases around bid increments and timings, the person who places the highest bid gets the item.

Post subject: How do I know if my snipe bids were placed?
I lost out on the last two items that I scheduled snipes for. At no time did I receive any notification that my bid had been placed the last item was 262030202199 my snipe was for GBP 77.00 the previous item was262026781942 I lost both items in the last few seconds.
Any advice as to why this happened and how to have more success next time?
