Post subject: COULD NOT BID: PHONE OR TEXT VERIFICATION REQUESTED BY EBAY
Gutted - put gixen bids on 3 items at the weekend and 2 of them I would have won if the bids had gone in. Instead I got the warning shown above. Background is that I tried to access ebay from my mum's laptop at her house over the weekend. Before this, I had already put gixen bids in, also (I think) on her laptop. Actually, I might even have bid on them from home before I set off for the weekend so I could forget about them. Can't remember - damn. Anyhoo - on trying to access ebay from mum's laptop, I got a message saying I was accessing ebay from a different machine and needed to request and insert a pin number they'd email or text. However, I thought this may be a scam, so didn't do it. Mum's laptop was also playing up with a suspected virus, so I thought it may have been connected to that. Weird thing is I could access ebay from her phone but not from her laptop.
Once I got home, I relogged into both ebay and gixen from my usual (own) laptop. I'd already missed the first item by then. I deleted the 2nd gixen bid and resubmitted it, but it still failed. I then followed the guidance about changing the proxy server from gixen, cleared cookies, inserted the proxy server info, refreshed the page (which confirmed I'd done it successfully), bid for another item on ebay (no problem and no pin required now) but gixen bids are still failing. I am often an idiot but I'm fairly sure I've done everything gixen suggested but I still can't get in. Oh, it's definitely not password update related either - I did that a week or 3 back on both ebay and gixen and no probs.
In case it helps, the last item I tried a gixen bid on was
151327208601
Any suggestions peeps?
Cheers
