If, when the Ebay auction closes, there is only one bid then the selling price is the opening price of the auction.
This assumes the seller has not also set a reserve price... if there is a reserve then that also has to be met before you can win the auction.
This is how Ebay works it does not make you pay the amount that you have bid if there are no competing offers As you have noted, the maximum that Ebay ever makes you pay is one bid increment more then the next highest bid, from a different buyer.
This is the same whether the winning bid is placed in the last seconds via Gixen or much earlier by yourself manually bidding.
The advantage of using Gixen is that other buyers have no time to change their mind about what they are prepared to bid for the auction.

Post subject: Bid amount if Glixen bid is the ONLY bid registered??
Sorry if this is a question for which the answer has already been addressed or is obvious, but I'm looking to use Glixen for the first time, and want to make sure I get this correct.
I'm looking for a bit a clarification on the Glixen bid price submitted if mine turns out to be the ONLY bid, and there's a minimum established bid starting price.
I know the FAQ indicates, when there ARE mutliple bids, that the winning bid amount will be the second-highest bid plus up to one increment. If there are no other bids, and my Glixen bid is placed several bid increments above that, that the winning bid amount will be either the minimum bid value established by the seller, or that + one increment?
Thanks in advance for your insights.
