I just meant that if he was signed in, they would know it was his account so he will not be bidding against himself.

eBay will recognize that the high bid is yours because of your user name and password.
I agree it is because of your user name... however to be strictly accurate the password doesn't make a difference... if you change your password on ebay it does not mean that you will pay more if you bid on auctions on which you are already the high bidder.

The answer is not 'yes' or 'no' it is more complicated than that because of the way that ebay works.
What is simple is that Gixen will always try to place the bid that you specify as your maximum at the time before the auction ends specified by the offset that you choose (if you have a Mirror subscription).
This is where the ebay rules/function come into play... that bid must not only be more than your current bid but also it must be at least one bid increment more than the auction price when the bid is to be placed... otherwise it will be rejected by ebay.
If it is accepted, that does not mean that you will necessarily pay any more than if the bid had not been placed at all... this is because, on ebay, if you have the two highest bids you pay no more than if you only had one highest bid... you do not 'outbid' yourself in the same sense that another bidder with a different id does.
So the bid placed by Gixen, when accepted, only comes into play if it is necessary in order to outbid a user with a different id from the one you use to place the bids through ebay and Gixen.
The only time that I ever do this though is when I place an early bid in order to remove a 'Buy It Now' option that I do not wish others to be able to take advantage of before the auction ends.

Post subject: concurrent ebay and gixen bids
If I have a high bid in an ebay auction, and a higher bid on Gixen, will Gixen recognize that the high bid is mine?
