Thanks for your quick responses! I didn't see a reserve price, which is why I was so confused. Ebay did not tell me there was a reserve - I don't know if they would have access to that information but you would think they would...
I'll look into it with ebay a little more. Thanks again!

eBay is acting as if there was an $800 reserve on this... usually there is some indication that this was the case but I can not see one in this instance... so whatever the cause eBay has some issue with this auction at least.

Gixen does not bid incrementally, it submits your maximum bid to eBay, then ebay proxy bidding system sorts out how much is needed to win.
In this case, looking at the bid history, I don't understand it either, and it looks like an ebay bug. I would contact eBay customer support and ask them what happened (no need to mention that you used sniping - it has nothing to do with it).
Also, I don't see any retracted bids that may have caused this. It's a problem of some kind they are having.

Post subject: contingency bid didn't function?
Item No: 180900409209
I won the above item, which is cool, but my bid was almost twice as much as the next highest bid and I'm confused. I've used Gixen before and I'm pretty sure it follows the same "increment bidding" as ebay auto bid, does. I set my max bid as $826. The next highest bid was $455.01 and my first bid was $800, which is the bid which won the auction. I spoke with ebay and they said it's because $800 was the bid I placed...no, I didn't; I tried to explain, but they were of no help.
Help, please? Is it user error?
