The default of a 6 second offset is what I would recommend when starting to use the free service... actually I think you may be restricted to that until you have a Mirror account. I use a larger offset than 6 seconds but not to increase reliability, to increase my chances of winning at a price I am prepared to pay in an enviromant where I am often competing with other snipers. There is no difference on terms of reliability of the sniping service from using either the GDM or the web interface, sniping is always performed by the Gixen servers no matter what you use to manage your snipes. I recommend you use the one you find most convenient.
Post subject: mario and Cupid THANK YOU!
Very special thanks, to both of you, for the information you provided to me!
For my first Snipe using Gixen, I will use the six (6) second offset. And, I will try the Gixen Desktop Manager.
Both of you replied to my post, 16 minutes after I posted. For a Paid service, that would be incredibly fast. For a Free service, it is truly very very impressive.
I thank you, for providing the Gixen service, which from what I have read is excellent. Probably soon, I will sign up for the Mirror service, with the 2 servers to reduce the possibility of a bid not getting in on time.

All the offsets have approximately the same reliability. I had my doubts at the time about 3-sec offset, but in practice there has been no increased failure rate with it.
Same holds for GDM vs Web - it's just an interface toward user, it has no effect on reliability.
The only thing that *does* have (a positive) effect on reliability is Gixen mirror service.

Post subject: Single server Offset VS success rate?, Does GDM 1.3.5 hurt
Hello: I am going to try the Free Gixen service, before purchasing the Mirror service. I have 2 "newbie" questions:
(a) With the Free (single server) service, what is the lowest offset time that works, properly, with a very low failure rate? I assume that the highest offset time, 15 seconds, is the safest (lowest failure rate) and that the lower offset times increase the risk of a bid not getting in on time, etc.
What Offset is recommended, for the Free single server service?
(2) Is it safer to use the web interface for Gixen and not the Gixen Desktop Manager1.3.5 which I have on this PC? Does using that increase the risk of a problem with Gixen, that using the web interface does not?
TIA and THANK YOU for providing what is obviously a great Sniper!
