Hello, Im fairly new to Gixen and ebay so just a question to clarify. I tried to use Gixen to bid for an item 280800354605. My bid was GBP 55.89, however i was outbid by GBP 1 which was the lowest increment, the winning bid was GBP 56.89. I know that Gixen places my bid during the last few seconds of an auction so that it is difficult for another bidder to place their bids. My questions is, was i out sniped by another bidder using a different sniping software that places the bid even later than Gixen? I have lost a few auctions this way, so am i doing something wrong? Thanks
Yes, that is the best strategy I know of.
If you don't already have a Mirror account that would be the primary thing to consider in order to decrease your failure rate, that is what it is designed to do.
Another factor you might wish to consider are what offsets you give your snipes, I believe a slightly larger offset than the default is more productive in the long run due to the bid increment rules on eBay.
I also have my target set to be my home eBay site (the UK), but that just makes things slightly easier if there are any issues after the purchase.

Thanks for your reply.
Im am much more clear on how Gixen works now.
Is the best stratergy to place the highest bid i am willing to pay for an item through Gixen and hope that no other bidder has placed a higher (maximum) bid than me through ebay, right?
Any other stratergy worth considering for better success?
Thanks again.

Yes the winning bid was placed a second after yours, however it may have been much higher than yours, the fact that they only have to pay 1 bid increment more than your bid is a feature of eBay.
You are not doing anything wrong, the bid that won was going to happen anyway, not even software can react to your bid in less than one second, and even if it could it would be pointless since the best strategy is to have your maximum bid registered after anyone else (not pre-programmed software) can REACT to it.
If someone else is prepared to bid more than you, at any time during the auction, you can not win, using sniping software or otherwise.
When competing against other snipers you actually have an advantage in bidding earlier than them since the bid increment rule works for you in this case.
The winner would have won if his bid had been placed before yours, you would just have seen an Outbid status rather than an Outsniped one. In terms of the outcome of the auction there is no difference between the two or an alteration in your strategy that could have affected the result.
