Ok, if using the mirror site doesn't guarantee that a bid won't be placed late, and if setting the offset to less than the free default 6 sec is a disadvantage (per the warning on the bid page) then exactly what did I gain in paying for the service?
How is a bot late placing a bid when it has 6 sec to get it in?
There are various situations in which mirror is beneficial. Mirror server is located in another hosting facility, so that automatically helps with any issues one hosting provider may have. Also, 1 in 300-500 snipes is late due to nature of the internet - requests time out, and that's normal, as dropped packets *are* actually part of how TCP operates (so called chain-saw sending rates, see TCP Reno).
So if 1 in 300 snipes is late statistically, that means with mirror you decrease this to 1 in 300x300, plus eliminate many other variables. That's a big difference in reliability.
But most of all - you also support even the Gixen free service. So if you like Gixen and find that is saved you a lot of money, please consider supporting it. The price is set not to make anyone rich, but to keep Gixen running.

Since there are two servers at different locations placing bids when you have the Mirror it IS much less likely that your bid will be late, there is the same chance that either will be late, but the possibility that both are is hundreds of times less likely.
The snipe mentioned at the start of this thread was not mirrored as confirmed by Mario.
I do regard setting snipes at 3 seconds to be a disadvantage (to you) but not because they are more likely to be late (not significantly in any case according to Marios' records) but because you are more likely to lose out to the eBay bid increment and first bid rules. Accordingly I regard the ability to set offsets that are greater than 6 seconds to be the real advantage of a mirror subscription with respect to offsets.
There are also other features are only available to Mirror subscribers... rather than my listing them again here I'd suggest looking through the Announcements forum.
The reasons why a single server can be late even when trying to place a bid with 6 seconds remaining are, I think, usually down to internet network latency, i.e. the connection from anywhere to anywhere on the internet is sometimes interrupted due to the huge number of devices involved with the route, usually failures are re-routed in a matter of seconds, however those seconds are important when the aim is sniping an eBay auction... that is why the two Gixen servers are in different locations... they use different routes to the eBay servers, so it is very unlikely both will be affected at the same time.

It's very much less likely for a snipe to be late from both servers at the same time, unless the issue is with eBay itself... so, though it can not be absolutely guaranteed that it would have worked if the snipe was Mirrored, it is most likely that it would.

No, a single snipe from main server only.

I assume this was not a Mirrored snipe?

Post subject: My bid was not placed and I lost the auction. WHY?
I had bid $61 and when the auction ended the item sold for $56. What happened? I was really needing to get a hold of this item as a gift which will now be late. :x The item number is 130596657123 .
