158.10 was the high bid before that last bid of 162.50 (that in fact may be higher, that's the current bid, not max bid) was placed. That was the current high bid at one moment of that bidder that had its maximum of 160.00.
Post subject: Thanks
Thanks, Mario. I think I understand how all of the moving parts are working now. Sorry for the erroneous bug report. :D

And it was exactly the max bid of third highest bidder + bid increment:
155.60 + 2.50 = 158.10.

Post subject: Could this be the reason?
Perhaps this is an anomaly with how quickly Gixen refreshes bids and how ebay reports them. Here's my guess at what may be happening. Gixen may have some lag time in displaying current bids. Ebay doesn't report the increments in an individual bid. At the time I checked, there was a bid for $158.10. Perhaps that bid was actually for more, but it was the amount was all that was showing as the bid to beat. The real bid was for more and when another bidder outbid that amount, ebay didn't report the $158.10 in the list of bids, but instead either the bidder's max bid or the bidder's current bid large enough to be the new high bid. Does that sound plausible?

Post subject: Gixen reporting incorrect high bid
This is the second time I've observed this. Gixen is reporting a high bid that is not only incorrect, that particular bid doesn't even show up in the item's bid list. The ebay item number is 230598159462. At the time of this message, Gixen is reporting the high bid as $158.10 USD. Ebay is reporting the high bid as $162.50 USD. The bid Gixen is reporting doesn't even show up in the list of bids:
US $162.50 Mar-27-11 11:11:33 PDT
US $160.00 Mar-27-11 10:31:56 PDT
US $155.60 Mar-27-11 10:07:28 PDT
US $150.00 Mar-27-11 10:31:37 PDT
US $130.00 Mar-27-11 10:31:21 PDT
US $125.00 Mar-27-11 10:30:57 PDT
US $107.00 Mar-18-11 06:46:57 PDT
US $103.00 Mar-22-11 18:04:58 PDT
US $100.00 Mar-17-11 12:40:28 PDT
