Thanks for the explanation, now I know what Captcha is, might come in handy in my next Scrabble game. My eBay account is long established, my password has not changed, my password is rather secure - however, it is possible that I was bidding on too many items from the same seller, most of which were ending at about the same time. Gixen placed a bid awhile later, after the Captcha errors, on an item by a different seller. Tomorrow I have one bid on an item from the Captcha seller, I will be curious to see what happens with that. Thanks again. Gixen is great! Steven
This can also happen if you recently changed your password, or if your password is too simple. I just checked the database, and it seems you are the only user at the moment that's having this issue, so it's probably something to do with your account.

Have you seen eBay asking you to enter numbers to verify an action, like sending a message?
That is a captcha.
Usually they dont appear in the bidding sequence, but if eBay inserts them Gixen can't automatically interpret them and hence can't bid.
Is this eBay account quite new or long standing?
The most common reason why eBay put captchas into the bidding process is that they want you to verify something on your account, like your address or they want you to enter credit card details.
Once you find out what eBay wants they will go away... occasionally there isn't a good reason, eBay just detects/suspects strange bidding activity on your account... in those cases the captchas usually go away in a day or so.

Post subject: CANNOT BID - EBAY REQUIRES CAPTCHA VERIFICATION CODE???
Anyone know what this error message means? I placed a number of bids with a single seller, some were placed, others received this error code. Thanks for your help.
