No, you don't need to do anything on eBay... you might, however, want to check that your Paypal account (if you have one) is linked to your eBay account on eBay as that occasionally causes eBay to reject bids. Sometimes people like to enter a low bid on eBay just to show the seller that there is some interest and thus discourage them from pulling the auction or revising it. Personally I don't do that but I do leave it on my watch list on eBay, this I view as enough indication to the seller that there is some interest. The offset is the amount of time before the auction that Gixen tries to place the bid, personally I see no point in setting it any lower than 6 seconds for either server as it increases the risk (slightly) that the bid will be too late for eBay to accept it. I personally prefer a larger offset (8 or more) so that I gain the advantage of the bid increment rules on eBay if there are other late bids of around the same value as my own.
Post subject: About to use for first time...
Just so I'm clear...I'd like to bid on an item in eBay where there are currently no other bids...I signed up for the mirror server too. Is this as simple as just entering my bid at Gixen and hoping the seller doesn't pull the item if there are no bids before the auction ends tomorrow? I don't need to enter anything at eBay? Also, what is "offset" and why set it to 6 instead of 3, like I did for "mirror"?
Thanks and hoping to win a very similar item I actually got sniped on a few weeks ago!
