It's not at all obvious to me. If that was the case why didn't you just set your snipe amount to be 157.19, or higher ? My second question was:
There was a reason for that. You are assuming there is enough time to place another bid after receiving and processing the response to the first. How long before the auction ends does AuctionSniper place its bids ? There's no guarantee that a bid of 157.19 could have won either, it might have just pushed the price a bit higher than you were actually prepared to pay.
