Most often that means that Ebay introduced a page that Gixen did not expect... for instance asking you to log in again after you had already done so before the bid can be accepted.
Was the snipe in question Mirrored?
If you got that on both servers it is an indication that Ebay want something from you.
If only a single server snipe it could just be a random failure though.
