I received this error message this morning and neither the first server nor the mirror I am using placed the bid.
I had no issue logging int to my Ebay account this morning. |

Sorry guys, I just went to the mirror and it looks like the bid was placed and I was outbid. |

That would be a good justification for your Mirror subscription... OK, so you didn't win, but at least as a result of having it you didn't see the item go for less than you were prepared to pay. _________________ Mark |

Yes, all is fine.
The reason I was upset is that when I looked at the first screen it showed that the item went for less than my maximum bid. So I thought the mirror bid had failed as well.
I am not sure if the status of those failed bids can be updated to show the price the item sold for. I guess, once an auction ends, Gixen does not update the status any more, thus leaving the failed bids showing an incorrect final price. |

I get the impression that once a particular server has an issue it stops trying to perform any of the later steps... but I might be wrong, since I don't have a great deal of experience with failures on the Main server, the overwhelming majority work fine for me.
Even if it did go on to look up the final price after a failure, the fact that it was lower than the amount you were prepared to pay wouldn't be an indication that your bid had not been placed by the other server, or in fact that you had not won it... Ebay only ever makes you pay at most one bid increment more than the next highest bidder.
If you knew that it was the same as before Gixen was scheduled to bid then I agree that would be an indication of a failure and, of course, if the final price is indicated as being higher than you were willing to pay then that would be an indication that you hadn't won, so that might be a small justification for Gixen continuing to update the auction price after a failure.
I think, going forward, my recommendation would be that if you do ever see a failure on the Main tab, then the next thing to do is to check the Mirror tab. _________________ Mark |
