An number of my snipes fail because the Snipe Bid is just below the Bid Increment.

An option to increase the Snipe Bid to the next Bid Increment plus some small amount would be great.

Example: Snipe Bid is set to $55.77 but at snipe time the auction is at $55. The Snipe Bid would fail. But with an option to Snipe the next Bid Increment plus $0.77 would Snipe Bid at $56.77 and go through and maybe allow for a win.

Another option is to have a value that is the Snipe Bid would fail because of the next Bid Increment then allow an additional amount be added to the Snipe Bid.

Such as $5. So it at Snipe Time the Bid is going to fail because next Bid Increment then add $5 to the Snipe Bid.

So the $55.77 becomes $60.77 and again may result in a win.

This has been suggested a number of times over the years and, to be honest, I've never been convinced it has merit.

For me it represents flawed thinking... "I'm prepared to pay more if the price gets close to what I thought was the amount I was willing to pay"... just indicates to me that you have set your snipe amount too low.

Here are a few other related posts that have been discussed in the past:

I'd like this feature too. It has merit if you are not aware or can't be bothered to check the bid increment.

I'm also certain that what the inital bidding starts at become offset so bid amounts initially placed to snipe can benefit from not being based on whole bid increments of the initial price.

Or, surely it has merit if lots of people have requested it in the past? Other auction sites do implement this as an option (e.g. easyliveauction).

I lost a bid today because of this. That pissed me off. To me I would of quite happily checked a little box saying bid to whole increments - fire and forget decision making for me.

Love gixen btw. Appreciate this is probably a lot of work.

First off you don't know the full amount of the proxy bid you just lost to. You lost by one bid increment, but that bid may have had another 5 dollars, 50 dollars, or 500 dollars backing it up. Again, you lost by one bid increment but that doesn't tell you what that person's maximum bid was.

Second you are asking gixen to make educated guesses with your money. That's not gixens job - that's your job to determine what the maximum is you are willing to spend.
