Hi im a real newbie to this and to ebay. I am a bit unclear as to what happens with the snipe bid. If an item has a very low starting price and someone has an automatic bid in for example $50 [we wont know that tho] and is going up in $1 increments and I decide that id be willing to pay $100 does this mean that Gixen automatically bids the whole $100 or does it just jump in at the last minute and I pay $51?

Gixen bids what you tell it to... however that doesnt mean that is what you will pay because eBay works out what the final selling price will be based on what the second highest bidder was prepared to pay... so in your example you would only have to pay $50 plus one bid increment, as you say a total of $51.

That is how eBay works.

And what if no one else bids and you were the only one?

Will it default to the minimum starting price?

Yes: if you are the only one who bids, you will win for the starting price.

All the above is true, however there is one caveat when using a sniping service to place your bids...

If there is a Buy It Now price on an auction with a lower starting price, dont schedule a snipe at an amount above the BIN price. This is because if no one else bids then eBay will probably reject the bid that Gixen trys to place for you (as it would if you tried to bid that amount manually) and no one will win the auction.
