Couldn't Gixen use the information to bid on good deals we find?

Yes, I suppose Mario could. I've seen absolutely no evidence that he does though.

Personally even if I had access to the same information as Mario about our bidding habits, I'd be very sceptical about using any specifics without quite a lot of further research. Specific bids are even worse than using single eBay auctions as a guide to value.

The overall trend information, I would think would be quite reliable and useful to some (but not myself).

Perhaps a more lucrative idea for Mario would be to collect bidding data on individuals so he could blackmail them. Laughing (disclaimer: this is just a random comment by a random poster intended as a random joke. Mario would never even think of doing such a thing; besides, my bidding data is so boring he would quickly lose interest. Laughing )

Doing a search on completed items you won makes more sense for me. This way you can see what good deals were really good.

I remember I found it fun to collect some statistics very early on (e.g. mean price for which item is won is $17 as from what I can recall), but never found an ethical way to take advantage of all this information. If someone has a good (and ethical) idea, please come forward with it.

Anonymous posting of the stats can get an idea at what time sales go higher or lower. This way maybe someone can think about starting their own sales business at some particular season.
