Hi, love Gixen so far. Would be nice if the session timeout was a bit (a lot?) longer. I'm not sure how long it is now, but, well, however long it is, it's too short.
thanks, Andy |

I think its an hour at the moment... So that means you want to leave yourself on the snipes page for more than an hour without doing anything?
It takes (admitedly a very small amount of) system resources to hold on to that session, and usually they dont get freed up when someone just closes their browser while logged on (I'm not certain but thats been the case with other sites taht I have worked on)..
With that in mind I personally think that to conserve system resources for the benefit of all users, if I don't do anything for an hour, its fair enough to have to log in again. _________________ Mark |

System resources are not a problem at all - it's security. I don't want active session ids in the database indefinitely. |

If it really is an hour (I said I didn't know... ), then that's fine. Perhaps a cookie to remember my username for speeding up the login then?

Hm, I don't like that either, in case you access it from a public computer... Unless if I put a checkbox "remember my username"... But I'd like to hear more users asking for it first... |

That's when you use "save password" feature of Firefox (not good for public computers also).
You can do the same with gixen if required.
Having username remembered is a good thing generally, having your password remembered is much more scary. |
