I was surprised when I lost an item today because of eBay bid increments rules.
I had bid $107.55 on an item but lost to a bid of $106.50. Evidently when the price went over $100 the bid increment went from $1.00 to $2.50 causing me to lose even though my bid was $1.05 more than the high bid.
I would like to see an option for Gixen members to pre-authorize an automatic increase in their bid to compensate for the current bid increment.
It might be a good incentive for people to become members instead of free users

It's not the first time that it has been suggested.

My view has always been that if buyers are prepared to pay more for items that they should schedule snipes for the amount that actually reflects the maximum that they are happy to pay.
