Gixen failed to bid claiming

i am constantly buying live and have now problems bidding , why is gixen failng to bid ?

It is not Gixen claiming that you have 3 unpaid item strikes; it is eBay. Gixen is merely reporting the message eBay gave as the reason eBay would not accept your bid. You would have received the same message had you attempted to bid manually.

You'll have to contact eBay in order to get this straightened out.

Ive been in touch with the Ebay concierge service and they cant see any problems on my account which is rated above std, with over 500 purchases and 100 sales,
I just tried a test purchase using Gixen and it won, but twice ive lost out when i would have been the highest bidder,
Is this the first such event on Gixen?

Hmmm... That's interesting.

Please contact Mario directly at his Gixen support address using the directions found on the Contact page. Be sure to include your Gixen username and the eBay auction number where you got this message so that Mario can look up the incident in the server logs and try to determine what happened.

This is another instance where the seller decides whether or not a restriction should be placed based on the number of unpaid strikes a bidder has.

It's certainly possible to buy from sellers that don't choose to impose that restriction (or do so at a higher level) but have bids rejected by Ebay for the sellers that do impose the restriction at the relevant level.

You should perhaps be more specific with Ebay support and tell them exactly which auction your bid has failed on, and the message reported back by Gixen as a result... They might be able to look a bit closer at the precise reason why your bid was rejected if you do that.

In any case, if there is an error and in fact your bid should have been accepted, the problem will be with Ebay not with Gixen. In order to have received that message back from Ebay, Gixen must have attempted to place the bid, just before the auction ended, as you requested it to do.

You're surely correct, Mark. But if Mario were to look up the incident in the server logs, that should settle the question for the OP. You're suggesting that the OP's account may still have 3 unpaid item strikes even though the eBay representative they spoke with assured them their account was clean. Perhaps that's just another example of eBay being unhelpful. Smile

Sadly, it wouldn't be the first time that a customer services representative at Ebay had given false or incomplete information due to lack of awareness of how the Ebay system actually works.

They do tend to prefer to tell you what you want to hear, if it gets rid of you and closes the case, and if there are actually item strikes present on the account the front line at Ebay have no power to remove them, that is only possible with the agreement of the seller that issued the strike in the first place.

I'm not suggesting that is the only scenario though, it is also possible that the Ebay system is reporting a failure incorrectly, and falsely flagging an account as having unpaid item strikes it doesn't appear to have using other Ebay systems, that wouldn't be a first either.

I agree with you that the specifics of the case need further investigation if the messages the OP is receiving are contradictory... I think we also agree that it's much more likely that, if there is a problem, it's on the Ebay side of things as opposed to the Gixen side.

For what it's worth, this was posted in the eBay Community. To check your own account:

"Click on the resolution center button at the bottom of any ebay page. Whe it opens scroll down a bit to the requests and cases box and expand the time frame from 30 days to Last 12 months. If any cases were opened and you didn't pay you will see the results of them there. If there are none there most likely it was a glitch.

Log in at eBay and click on the Resolution Center link at the bottom of any page. You can check the status of any cases on your account - open or closed - going back 18 months. It may be a good idea to take a look at both closed and open cases to see what's there.
