streetcarmikestrauch,

The issue described above ended more than 24 hours before your post.

I assume that my inability to log in this morning (password does not match) is related to this outage. The cookies are not showing my user name and password.

Was the crash due to power loss? That shouldn't cause database corruption if you're doing it right. If you're using Postgresql, would be good to understand the information on their documentation (search for "Postgresql Reliability and the Write-Ahead Log")

If the database is stored on a hard drive, you'll need to disable the hard drive write cache. If on SSD, you can only use an SSD that has true power loss protection (most consumer drives don't, and Micron branded ones don't either). If using RAID, you need a battery backed unit. You'll also want to run a test like diskchecker.pl.

Hope this helps!

PostPosted: Thu Feb 27, 2020 8:19 am    Post subject: Gixen Mirror issues this morning

During the night, the mirror server crashed, and mirror database got corrupted.

It is being restored now. Some data on submitted bids may be lost, but will be available upon request from logs.

The main server operated without an issue during this time.

The forum server also crashed. This is a pure coincidence that both went down around the same time. The forum is restored now.

I received many, many emails during the past hours. I may not be able to respond to all of them - if they relate to the now resolved issue you may not receive a response. If you need one, please re-send.
