Thanks John,

That is the best explanation of the 'earlier bid rule' that I have ever seen.

Here is the bidding history.
Code:

n***a(0)    $60.00  10 Oct 2017 at 7:21:52AM PDT
t***a(144)  $60.00  10 Oct 2017 at 11:28:38AM PDT
d***r(20)   $50.00  10 Oct 2017 at 3:31:50AM PDT
d***r(20)   $10.00  10 Oct 2017 at 3:31:30AM PDT
t***a(144)  $6.00    9 Oct 2017 at 9:42:59PM PDT
d***r(20)   $5.00    8 Oct 2017 at 1:45:27PM PDT
9***o(505)  $5.00    8 Oct 2017 at 1:56:21PM PDT
Starting Price   $0.99  7 Oct 2017 at 11:28:43AM PDT

Presumably you are t***a(144) in this auction and your bid of $60.00 was recorded 5 seconds before the auction ended.

However, n***(0) bid $60.00 at 7:21:52 AM, more that 4 hours before you did. Since the bid amounts were the same, the earlier bid wins. It happens, and this auction is an example.

To avoid this, it is advisable to bid odd amounts. For example, had you bid $60.01, you would have won, and the bidding history would have looked like this:
Code:

t***a(144)  $60.01  10 Oct 2017 at 11:28:38AM PDT
n***a(0)    $60.00  10 Oct 2017 at 7:21:52AM PDT
d***r(20)   $50.00  10 Oct 2017 at 3:31:50AM PDT
d***r(20)   $10.00  10 Oct 2017 at 3:31:30AM PDT
t***a(144)  $6.00    9 Oct 2017 at 9:42:59PM PDT
d***r(20)   $5.00    8 Oct 2017 at 1:45:27PM PDT
9***o(505)  $5.00    8 Oct 2017 at 1:56:21PM PDT
Starting Price   $0.99  7 Oct 2017 at 11:28:43AM PDT

Hello,

I have a question or possible issue. On two separate occasions, i had placed a max bid on Gixen and the winning bid amount was exactly what i had entered, yet i did not win it in Ebay.

Does that mean i would have needed to set a max amount more than the final price? I would expect to have won it since my max bid reached the selling price ....not a penny more. Please advise. Thank you
