Hmmm. I installed Adblock Plus (thanks for the tip, those ads are really annoying) and now I only and always get 2 buttons. No matter how many times I refresh the page, I only ever get 2 buttons, so it definitely seems to be related somehow to ads. Maybe the ads trigger a page refresh or something that triggers the Gixen add-on to add another button.

Thanks russff,

That is a useful explanation.

I currently get two buttons on all the listings I look at... I get fed up with it quite rapidly though and disable the Extension as a result... At the moment, I only tend to enable it again when someone complains about it here.

I have the Adblock Plus 2.6.4 Extension enabled, to remove the adverts, so I do not see them, maybe that has an effect on the operation of the Gixen extension though.

Even if I have only a single tab open, I get at least 2 buttons.
The ebay windows have ads. I did notice that sometimes when the ebay page first loads, I get 2 buttons. Then as an ad display loads, another button appears, sometimes multiple buttons appear.
If I keep refreshing the same page, as the ad changes with each refresh, I get a different number of buttons. Don't know if this is helpful or not.

I have replicated it, and am in the UK.

It is, I think, related to the use of multiple tabs to view auctions.

If you only ever use one tab, I don't think there is any issue... but I'm sure that does not fit well with the way people would like to work.

It's true, this problem is still present, and annoying indeed. I looked at it, but was unable to fix it (at first I thought I did), and the author (Keith) could not replicate it from his location (UK). Hence it's still unresolved. I will look at this again.

russff,

I think the multiple buttons is a known issue with the current version.. I don't think I have seen news of a fix for this being posted here... but Mario may know better.

I am using 1.1.3 of the add-on on FF 31 and I get multiple buttons also. Sometimes I get 2 buttons, sometimes I get 6 buttons.
I deleted and reinstalled as Mario suggested, but still get multiple buttons. Still works, just a screen full of buttons.

fonaticalbuyer, please try re-installing the addon. Delete the present one, restart the browser, then download the new one (same link) and install it ("install from file" option in addons). You should see only one button then.

Steve, no, Keith was unable to reproduce the problem. Let me talk to him again.

Is there any update from Keith on the multiple button issue? I get FOUR buttons on ebay.com with AutnSipe 1.1.3 and FireFox 28.

Thanks,

Steve

Yes, the position had to be changed after Ebays' reorganisation of the page, which has only recently completed roll-out on .co.uk, as you noticed yesterday, but was introduced in the US (on .com) some months ago.

The multiple buttons is a known issue with the latest version which Keith (the developer) has been made aware of, and will need to look into.

Please take care in the meantime as, I believe, the multiple buttons issue can also be related to auctions other than the one you are viewing being selected when you select a button to add a snipe.

Many thanks.

Updated and it works - the links are differently placed though - I am getting multiple add to gixen links in very large type below the title instead of the small link below the place bid button as before.

Not too worried as it does work.

Thanks.

Hi Chris,

You are definitely out of date, I am using 1.1.3.. which is a completely different generation... as Mario says it is now a native Firefox Add-on that does not require GreaseMonkey.

Hi Mario

Yep, I know. I have been using

gixen ebay auction sniper 1.0.6
by
Keith Hopkins

installed it and have been using it since the day it first came out

it shows it was last updated 18th July 2013

I place a dozen or more snipes every day with it normally - tonight I am using the gixen site instead.

Thanks.

Chris, what version of autosnipe are you using?

The old GreaseMonkey add-on is no longer supported, the current add-on is available at www.gixen.com/autosnipe/gixen_ebay_auction_sniper.xpi

It has to be installed manually from Firefox.

PostPosted: Tue Mar 04, 2014 2:49 pm    Post subject: Autosnipe addon (Firefox) stopped working 4th March 2014

As of today, the autosnipe addon in Firefox has stopped working. The link no longer appears.

I think this is because ebay has changed the page layout - they have added a add to collection link below the add to watch list link.

I use ebay uk and example item nos are 151243702843, 181332166014, 171256516302, etc.

I am a mirror subscriber and a heavy gixen user using the autosnipe feature, so I miss this functionality.

Please help.

Chris
