So i have to submit a proxy bid amount to ebay? Or is there integration through gixen?

Sorry in advance for a complete noob question....if i place a bid on an ebay auction using gixen will the service always bid the maximum amount i enter or will it only bid the next higher incremental bid to win the auction up to the amount i entered?
