The add-on is still not approved by Firefox, this is why it''s not available on the Firefox site. Keith sent me an email received by Firefox a few days ago, and frankly the wording of it is such that I, as a software engineer, could not immediately understand the reasons. I assume that it boils down to the following: that it would be possible to construct an ebay page in such a way that string manipulation done by the addin (in order to extract the item id) would pose a risk. Of course, that would require a deliberate intention by ebay to do such a thing.

This is why you need to install the add-in above manually. xpi file is a zip file that you can unpack and check the source code if you have any doubts in what it does.
