| I've received this message, "EBAY BID INCREMENT RULE NOT MET", numerous times when I had a higher bid. For example last night my max bid was $147.39 and the item sold for $145. I would like an option in this case to round up to the next increment and my snipe to execute. | |

You don't know what your aditional cost would be because you don't know the winner's max bid. Someone was willing to pay more than you. Move on. |

| Pete, you could have added that increment yourself to your maximum bid, thus increasing your maximum bid. Now, how many times would you be willing to increase your maximum bid by 0.6%? Once, twice, 10 times?
What this boils down to is a variant of the Sorites paradox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auction_sniping#Objections). A variant of what you propose has, I believe, been implemented by Auction Sniper. I consider it a marketing pitch with no real value. |

| I have lost auctions on Gixen because of this. I bid a max of 141.55 and it sold for 142.50. I entered an increment of $1.55 when Ebay rules state it is $2.50.
So I intended to spend a max of $141.55 but it sold for $142.50. My additional cost would have been 95 cents or 6/10 of one percent. that is, .95/142.50 I see the validity in saying "Gixen should never pay more than my max bid", but in actuality, I would have rather spent the additional .6 percent than lose the item. What if a new option were created, something like Rround bid to next increment" with a default of "no" to preserve the existing behavior? This could be implemented when the snipe is created - change the bid color to the new incremented amount and make it yellow if the option is ON. If it is OFF, change it to RED and issue a warning. If the amount falls on a valid increment, do not change the color or issue a message. |
