Yes, now that you remind me, I've seen the two-minute warning a hundred times, or if not on grouping, at least knew that two minutes before auction end is sort of the 'window' on placing a new Gixen bid. Also, I didn't notice that these items were grouped that closely until AFTER the auctions ended and I tried to figure out what went wrong. Had out-of-town company and was in a hurry to just get the bid placed without doing 'due diligence' I guess. Also forgot this particular high-volume seller typically uses a bulk listing tool and has many, many auctions only one or two seconds apart.
I'll pay more attention next time. But nice to know 20-second difference "might" work.
Thanks, Mario. |

Auctions ending only a few seconds apart is definitely a problem. There is a warning not to group items ending within 2 minutes of each other (have you seen it?). Once they are are in the execution queue, Gixen will try to cancel remaining snipes in a group, but there is no guarantee it will succeed. If only a few seconds apart it almost certainly won't. 20 seconds or more, it probably will, but no guarantee on that. The only completely safe time is 2 minutes. |

|
I bid the following two items under "Contingency Group 1" because I did not wish to purchase or pay shipping on the second item without the first. However, after losing the first item ("Outsniped") I then WON the second, which will cost me $1.60 in shipping (plus the $6 item):
Contingency Group 1:
Item #330736443055 (Lost)
Item #330736443069 (Won)
The auctions closed only a few seconds apart - perhaps that was the problem--- not enough time for Gixen to process the first win & cancel the second bid (due to 10-second offset)?
For future reference, how long DOES it take Gixen to process the first event and cancel the second (on regular or contingency groups)? Would this one have worked 3 seconds apart had I set the offset to 3 seconds rather than 10, or is there no way to use the group features with auction timed this closely together? |
