Thanks for the complements Guys, it's really appreciated.
That's right I'm a long time user if Gixen and a much longer time user of eBay as a buyer. Many years ago I did some selling on eBay too but not recently so my knowledge of that is patchy and gained from knowing others that sell on eBay and other platforms and discuss issues on various forums, including the eBay ones.
I have no access to the Gixen servers, or any of the data or software that resides there by any means... and I wouldn't want any... Mario is the sole custodian of the Gixen experience... I just try to contribute a bit of help here on a regular basis, I'm passing through often enough (to use the service like everyone else) so it's no big deal to drop by on the way... I'm pleased when it is found to be helpful to others. |

redslot84,
(1) No, usually when there is a timeout or other problem it doesn't really matter, there is not enough time left anyway.
(2) Absolutely, (1 in 300) x (1 in 300) = 1 in 90,000. In practice, it almost never happens that both servers fail at the same time unless there is some issue with ebay, account or otherwise. From everything that I have seen over the years, I can tell you that mirror is a really good purchase.
Cupid is not an employee, he is a longtime Gixen user, and by now a friend (though we never met in person, at least not yet). His help on the forum (and otherwise, helping with issues, alerting me) has been invaluable over the years. |

Mario, I use GDM mainly for bidding on OLD car parts for a 44 year old restoration. You typed that Gixen fails approximately 1 in 300.
(1) Does using a larger Offset alter the chance of a failure? eg, using 15 seconds instead of 6.
(2) Since I joined and have the Mirror server as a safety now, does that alter the 299: 1 odds?
thank you very much, rob
just curious, is Cupid an employee? He/she has wonderful answers for all the newbies. |

It's around 1 in 300, so it was quite a bad luck.
I assigned your dad free two months or mirror subscription, with mirror this won't happen. |

Thanks for being honest. That says a lot about you guys here at Gixen. Bit gutted because this was my dad's first time using gixen and I've been telling him how good it was for ages! This was meant to be a christmas present for his wife... How often does this sort of thing happen? |

OK, found it now. I checked the logs, and unfortunately Gixen was late on this one. I wish I had better news, but this happens occasionally. |

You may be getting confused because after the auction when the bid hadn't placed my son attempted to enter a snipe on the same IP I am now on just to see what the issue had been. But no, if you check, user: adriancoleridge, had a bid all lined up for this auction and it never got placed. |

Was it a Mirrored snipe or just from the Main server? |

I had a bid set up. The bid wasn't placed. It just says:
ENDED 159.50 122.02 GBP ENDED
This was all set up hours before the end of the auction. Please can you investigate.
