Big apologies guys, here is what happened.

When CPUs were upgraded, time was not set properly by the hosting facility staff. As I use VPS, not dedicated, my own ntpd could not set the time properly. Finally I found a workaround.

This is fixed now, sorry once again.

Mario.

P.S. The solution for this, and 2 previous incidents that happened since Gixen was launched, is to move Gixen to a dedicated server. But this costs $$, and at this point Gixen is barely making enough to pay for the VPS. It will probably take another 6 months before I have enough traffic (=more clicks = more money) to pay for the dedicated.

I had the same thing just happen to me. An earlier Gixen auction sniped at the right time, but this was a two minute lead time.

Auction end time : 09-Dec-06 21:36:30 EST
Bid time : 09-Dec-06 21:34:01 EST

I would assume that it's likely just that your hosting service has the server out of sync with eBay's time. And really, eBay is probably not who anyone should be syncing their time against.

Do you verify times between servers? Maybe a check every 5 minutes and adjusting for the difference, unless you have control over what the server you host with in regards to time setting.

Fortunately, I won the auction anyway. I've trained myself not to get disappointed when I lose an auction as well, so if I missed it then no big deal. As I've said before, it keeps me from frenzy bidding at the end which prevents me from bidding too much and being scolded by the wife.

This is my first time using Gixen. I wanted to snipe item # :150067391841 but it seemed it bid 2 mins before the auction ended. I was just curious why it would do that. Thanks.
